Why is your product more expensive?
There is no magic formula. In fact our product is less expensive when you compare it to the national brands offering a comparable product. In a nutshell, our leathers are a better quality and breath much better while being softer, Our frames are sturdier using thicker hardwoods and connecting them in the strongest way possible. Our cushioning is better and will last longer. Every pillow or cushion is always accessible, so you can replace your cushioning over the life of the furniture. Our Hand Crafting, manufacturing process is far more labor intensive than many others. Quality takes time. By using seat cushions and back pillows that are virtually all either accessible, or removable, our product can be enjoyed for many years while maintaining a comfort and appearance that you not only desire but deserve. Our product is NOT expensive given the quality you receive. On the other hand, most other manufacturers today are only concerned with price, and have little or no regard for quality. They use seats and backs that are either not removable or accessible at all. Look at it this way. If your seat cushions and/or back and arms pillows are sewn in (attached) without access to the interior, you will not be satisfied with the comfort or appearance over time and instead of simply being able to replace a sets cushions and/or back pillow fiber, you will be forced to either reupholster or buy new furniture even though the leather, frame or springs may still be useable. Imagine buying a car that had the tires/wheels welded on to the frame. By denying you the option to replace your tires, you would be forced to replace the car when the tires are worn and not when the engine is worn. It does not make much sense does it?

Our Extra Firm cushion is also a 1.8Lbs but with a 44 lb. ILD. This cushion and density is typically what is used in commercial grade furniture.
I prefer a softer seat what options do you have?
Our Signature Seating is our Down/Innerspring Seat Cushion. This premium cushion is made with Reflex Foam and contains 27 individually wrapped coil springs, that are then encased within our down/feather blend and covered in a down proof ticking. This provides you the best of both worlds. Soft, plush seating with excellent support.
Can I add nail heads to a style?
Yes, nail heads can be added to any style that contains wood in the area where nails are desired.
I do not like nail heads, can they be removed?
Yes, Nail heads are optional and can be removed from any style shown with them.
What kind of wood are your frames made of?
We use Grade No1. 1 thick kiln dried Hardwood Lumber. The type of wood changes periodically, but typically we use a poplar or oak hardwood. We complement this with a 6 ply, engineered hardwood that is also 1 thick. This may be used on large, or form fitting areas that are too large to use Hardwood Lumber. All of our hardwood frames are guaranteed for as long as you own the furniture. Unlike much of what is out there in stores in todays furniture market, we will never use any press wood or laminate in our frames.
What kind of cushions do you have?
We offer 3 different seat cushions so you can customize the seating to your specifications. They are: Soft, Medium, and Extra Firm. SOFT Our Signature Seating is our Down/Innerspring Seat Cushion. This premium cushion is made with Reflex Foam and contains 27 (24???) individually wrapped coil springs, that are then encased within our down/feather blend and covered in a down proof ticking. This provides you the best of both worlds. Soft plush seating with excellent support. We like to say You will sit IN our furniture. NOT on it. It is not too soft, but just right for the majority of our customers. Any cushion can be put on any style and they all come with a Lifetime Warranty. MEDIUM Our Standard foam cushion is 1.8 lbs/per cubic foot. With a 27Lb. ILD (Indentation load deflection). This is our softer seat. Our Extra Firm is also a 1.8Lbs but with a 44 lb. ILD. This is our firmest seat.
What kind of springs do you use?
Our standard Steel Spring system incorporates the Sinuous Spring that is 8 gauge tempered steel, and is placed in our frames no more than 2 to 3 inches apart. See our 8 way Sofa Spring section for more information. We also offer the old world, Traditional 8 Way Hand Tied Spring system as an option for customers wanting a firmer foundation. DO NOT CONFUSE this with an inferior DROP IN 8 Way Hand Tied suspension that is commonly found today, yet referred to as real 8 Way Hand Tied. They are NOT the same. These drop in units are pre made for mass production (NOT HAND CRAFTING), use short coils and contain only 9 coils per individual seat (27 per sofa) Our coil springs are taller for more support and are actually hand tied the old fashioned way. We use from 16to20 coils per seat. (depending on the style). Thats a total of 48to60 coils in an entire sofa. The result is a firmer seat, more support and we recommend it specifically for use by larger people. Both our 8 Way Sofa Spring System and our Old Fashion 8 Way Hand Tied Spring systems are guaranteed for life.
Can I get a swatch sample?
Absolutely. Please contact a Leather Creations, Leather Specialist to arrange the use of a swatch. A small deposit will be required to ensure we get our selling tools back.
What is the difference between Full top Grain Leather,Top Grain Leather,Split Grain Leather and Bicast Leather?
Leathers selected for the furniture industry are sliced to a uniform thickness on precision machines. This splitting process separates the Top Grain ( Top 3/64 inch ) of the hides from the Split Grain. The top layer or Top Grain is the strongest part of the hide. It contains the tightest fiber structure and is considered the most durable part of the hide. Top Grain simply means, top layer, which can also mean the leather was overly scarred (too many imperfections) requiring the entire surface of the hide to be sanded to remove these imperfections. This process alters the natural surface grain of the hide and closes the hair cells which hinders the breathe ability of the leather. Furthermore, since the natural graining of the leather is removed it requires a new pattern (graining) be stamped or pressed back onto the leather using a heat embossing process. This procedure results in a less natural appearance and a rougher hand/feel. After arrival at the tannery, hides go through a selection process or grading to determine which hides are suitable for which types of leather. Top grain hides containing more imperfections are sanded and embossed, while Top Grain hides that have few, if any imperfections are called Full Top Grain. Full Top Grain is still a Top Grain (top layer) of the hide possessing the durability and breath ability factor. However, these select hides are so pristine that a complete sanding or buffing is not required. The result is that these hides are allowed to remain in their most natural state, offering the highest breathe ability and natural graining possible, while maintaining the durability factor. Split Grain is a by product or what is left over after the Top Grain ( 3/64inch) is removed. It does not have the same fiber content of a Top Grain, and will not hold a finish like one either. Because of the weakened fiber structure, Splits are susceptible to cracking, peeling and over stretching which results in a very poor quality leather sofa in a short period of time. A Bicast Leather is simply a Split Grain leather with a Vinyl coating pressed onto the surface to add strength. The two worst elements combined into one hide. Splits and Vinyl. The result is leather that will not breath at all and is hard to the touch. You WILL be HOT IN THE SUMMER and COLD IN THE WINTER. These leathers are quite common today in many big box retailers, and department stores, for the fashion that they seem to offer. There are some that look like they are nice, but donot be fooled. Always ask Is this a Spilt Grain Leather Or Bi Cast? Let a Leather Creations specialist show you Full Top Grain Leather that gives the same fashionable appearance while offering all the wonderful characteristics that you would expect in premium quality leather.
Is Leather hot in the summer and cold in the winter?
Most leather that is sold in department stores and big box retailers are indeed hot in the summer, and cold in the winter. This is typically called Top Grain, Split Grain or Bi cast leather. Due to the extreme processing, (specifically the sanding and buffing of the hides surface) that is required to make these lower grade leathers useable for furniture, they contain no natural hair cells or pores which are required to allow the leather to breathe, thus able to regulate temperature. On the contrary, Leather Creations specializes in Full Grain leathers. These leathers are in their more natural state, containing the necessary hair cells and pores required to breathe properly. The old myth that leathers are hot in the summer and cold in the winter is simply not the case with us. In fact, our Full Grain Leather will perform just the opposite, providing a cool touch in the Summer and warmth during the Winter.
Are the more expensive leathers more durable or better?
All of our leathers are equal in durability whether you select our lowest group or our highest. Unlike much of what is sold in other stores today, we do not sell Split Leather or Bi cast, which is not designed to last more than a couple of years. Therefore, all leathers that are called Top Grain and Full Top Grain ( Full Grain) will have the same tensile strength and durability. What differentiates the leathers with regard to pricing is simply there rarity, and the amount of processing (labor invested) that is required to achieve the look and feel the way they do. Our leather Specialist will gladly explain in detail the differences among all our leathers.
What colors are available in leather?
We offer well over 200 designer colors. If you cannot find the right color, we can actually match a color that you would like by bringing us a color swatch. Much like matching paint, the same can be done for leather. Off course this is more expensive to do, and it is very rare that a customer does not find a color they want with our vast selection.

How long should leather last?
All independent studies will show that leather will last 4 to 6 times longer than fabric. If you properly care and feed the leather with our suggested products, you will have it to enjoy for life. Of course this assumes the foundation ( frame and springs) and cushioning is designed to last as long as ours.
Will Leather fade?
Anything in direct sunlight will fade. Our carpets fade, our draperies fade and of course hardwood flooring fades. Many leathers however have a much higher fade resistance than does upholstery fabric. As a general rule of thumb, if you own fabric and it has not faded, then you can bet your leather will not fade as long as you select the proper leather type with sufficient resistance. Some leathers have no fade resistance whatsoever ( typically referred to as naked ,unprotected or 0 coat leather) but are usually some of the softest leathers you will feel. Our Leather Specialists can help you make the proper decision based on where it will be placed in your home.
Why does this leather seem to scratch so easily?
Many leathers are designed with a specific rough or distressed look to them. The Bomber Jacket look as it is sometimes referred to. To achieve this appearance, these have either a wax and/or oil injected into them during the tanning process which can makes them more easily scratch able. Some examples of these leathers are: Bonanza, Capri, and Ponderosa just to name a few. Although you can often rub or buff out these scratches literally by hand, they are intended to be there and are considered part of the beauty of these leather types. If upon seeing these leathers you feel a tendency to want to buff them out, then this leather is probably not for you. However, we can show you other leathers that will give you a similar look but will not scratch so easily.

Why do you consider yourself an expert in Leather Furniture?
All we do is manufacture and sell Leather Furniture. Our vertical integration from Manufacturing allows us to factory train every single Leather Specialist. Further more because we want to be viewed as leather experts, the majority of our training is based on the leather itself and that is single handedly the most important part of your leather purchase. This approach has another advantage. Our sales staff consists of Furniture Experts that have many years experience in the industry. Unlike big box retailers that have a revolving door, Our leather specialists are professionals that have worked with us for many years. You wont find College students on a summer job working with us.
Which Leather do you recommend for families with kids and pets?
The good news is that since we are a Leather Specialty Showroom, and manufacture our own product, we are very well educated in the many leather types we carry. Many of these are well suited for active households with kids and pets. Our leather specialist will be sure to ask the right questions so that they can recommend the proper leather for your usage. On the other hand, a typical department store, or big box retailer, does not usually know the differencees in the leather types they carry, therefore are not qualified to give you the required information to help you make a well educated choice. You could very well end up with a leather that will not meet your particular lifestyle requirements. Here is how it works with us: Typically, our leathers that have 1 or 2 coats of protection, have very little variation in color from front to back of the leather. These are the most popular. It is important that you look at the back of the leather to determine what will happen if you scratch the surface color of the leather. Furthermore, leathers with 1 or 2 coats of protection are more forgiving. They will allow you plenty of time to clean up any possible spills or accidents that may occur. Some examples of this leather type are: Ferrari, Milan, Allure, Ambrae and Italia to name a few. Our Leather Specialists are trained to ask the right questions, ensuring that you get the right leather for your lifestyle.
Do you offer sleepers?
Yes almost all of our styles can be made as sleepers. Depending on what the style will allow, they are either Queen or Full size. Our chair and 1/2’s can be made with a cot sleeper. Our mattress is a 4 in innerspring with a 4 inch Air mattress.
Do you offer an accidental protection plan?
Yes. We have our exclusive accidental protection plan that covers accidents that our regular warranty does not cover. Things such as food or drink stains, ink marks, burns and tears would be covered. It is not a stain removal or cleaning service. It is an accidental protection plan. So if you spill something on your furniture that cannot be cleaned, you are covered. Best of all, this protection plan gives you all of the premium cleaning materials you will need in order to properly maintain the care and feeding of your premium leather for 5 years.
Is the warranty transferrable?
No.
Can the accidental protection plan be renewed?
Yes, after 5 years you may renew the warranty (for the same price as is being charged at the time) as long as the following criteria are met. You will need to pay a additional $99.00 inspection and cleaning fee per piece. A representative will come out to the house, clean and inspect and your furniture and then retreat it with the protectant. Your furniture must be in perfect condition. If there is any damage to the piece, we can renew the warranty with exemptions. Customers with prior APP claims are not eligible for renewal.
Why is your leather warranty only 2 years while everything else is lifetime?
The only thing we cannot control is how the leather is used. We can only control how it is manufactured, and no matter what we guarantee that you will not have challenges for at least 2 years. Specifically, many customers treat their furniture differently. For example a customer with 5 kids, and 2 dogs, that are always on the furniture cannot expect the leather to last as long as a customer that is single with no kids, or pets. Our leathers are tested, and retested, and have the highest dry rub rating, and wet rub rating available. With proper use and care all leather should last a lifetime.
